Henry Searle claimed his maiden ATP Challenger title on the grass in Dublin, defeating Jurij Rodionov 6-4, 6-2.
A former Wimbledon boys champion in 2023, Searle enjoyed a fantastic week on grass in Dublin and capped it off by winning the first challenger title of his career with a confident performance against the Austrian.
At 20 years and two months, Henry Searle is the youngest grass-court Challenger winner since a 19-year-old Alex de Minaur claimed his maiden title in Nottingham in 2018.
Coached by veteran Dan Evans, who will be his partner for the doubles main draw at Wimbledon after the pair received a wildcard, the young Brit won 81% of his first serves (22/27) and converted three of his four break points.
Edging the 27-year-old narrowly in the first set 6-4, Searle coasted into a healthy 4-0 advantage in the following set, and just to highlight his confidence on the grass in Ireland, he secured his first title with an ace.
He will now jump 91 places in the ATP rankings to a career-high of 263rd.
Having only been awarded a wildcard for Wimbledon’s qualifying tournament, Searle will begin his quest for a spot in the main draw on Monday 22 June in Roehampton.
