Day Two at Wimbledon: Updates

Catch up with all the latest updates from the British stars competing at Wimbledon 2026.

Day Two

Nine Brits are in action on the second day of Wimbledon – and will be looking for more success in their home Grand Slam after a disappointing opening day.

Katie Swan became the first British player to progress to the second round at Wimbledon after defeating Romania’s Irina-Camelia Begu 6-4, 6-4.

Having won previously in the first round in SW19 in 2018 – her only Grand Slam main draw win – the 27-year-old was composed across the two sets and capitalised on break points on the Romanian’s serve to claim a big victory for the Brits.

Arthur Fery and Jacob Fearnley joined her shortly after with the two Brits fighting back against Damir Dzumhur and Alex Michelsen.

Jan Choinski’s rise continued at Wimbledon as, after reaching the top-100 for the first time in his career before the tournament, the 30-year-old secured his spot in the second round with a straight-sets win over Vit Kopriva.

However, there were British defeats for Katie Boulter, Toby Samuel, Billy Harris, Jack Pinnington Jones and Harry Wendelken on a tough second day at The Championships.

Day One

We’ve 11 Brits in action on the first day of Wimbledon 2026.

Emma Raducanu was set to open the day on Court One but, last night, the British number one withdrew from the tournament due to a stress fracture after days of speculation on whether she will compete due to fitness concerns.

British number one Cameron Norrie fell short in a gruelling five-set battle against qualifier Michael Zheng with the American taking it 6-7 (9), 6-2, 6-7 (7), 6-3, 7 (10) – 6.

Qualifier Oliver Tarvet showed plenty of fight to take 25th seed Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech to four sets before bowing out in defeat 7-6(4), 7-6(4), 4-6, 7-5.

Harriet Dart also lost out in a close battle with Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko in the first match on Court One as the former Roland Garros champion won 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

Teenager Mika Stojsavljevic suffered a straight set defeat to 11th seed and Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic, losing 6-3, 6-0 in one of the early games on the opening day at Wimbledon, while Alicia Dudeney’s first appearance at a Grand Slam ended with a 6-3, 6-3 loss.

Grand Slam debutants Felix Gill and Max Basing depart in the first round at All England Club. Gill was beaten by Spain’s teenage sensation Rafael Jodar in three sets, 6-3, 6-3, 7-5, while Basing had a difficult time against Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki, being defeated 6-3, 6-0, 6-0.

17-year-old Hannah Klugman lost to former Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova, 6-1, 6-4, in an hour and 26 minutes.

Mimi Xu also pushed Australian Daria Kasatkina to three sets but experience overshadowed the young Brit in the decider, falling to a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 loss in the first round.

Francesca Jones suffered a straight-set 6-4, 6-4 loss to France’s Diane Parry in the evening matches on the outdoor courts.

Jack Pinnington Jones’ match with American Brandon Nakashima was suspended in the third set due to light, with the American having taken the first two sets 6-3, 7-6 (5) and currently leading the third 4-3.
